Their rating system takes into consideration such health risks as cancer, organ system toxicity, neurotoxicity, allergies and other risk factors. Skin Deep also fuels the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics, a coalition of consumer groups working to phase out the use of dangerous chemicals in cosmetics and replace them with safer alternatives.
